So I have a jewelry box full of stuff I’ve collected over the years… 99% of it I don’t have the tags/packaging for anymore…

Now I’m allergic to nickel…

How exactly does one go about finding out which jewelry isn’t safe anymore??

There’s the nail polish trick- you can use clear nail polish to seal your jewelry, and keep it from touching your skin directly… Or I figured I’d just get rid of stuff that made me itch, and if it was something I liked- replace it with higher quality metals. Or switch out french wires for nickel free ones.

I decided on Sunday to wear a pair of earrings I hadn’t worn in a while. My whole face broke out… That’s finally feeling a little better. But my ears are still sad…

So, in closing… I don’t recommend this method. I recommend painting with nail polish, if you have a nail polish that’s safe for you. Or upgrading.

Yes, all that would be better…

A turtle… A BIG turtle!

turtle 2This morning we awoke to this in the (newly planted) vegetable garden. And it wasn’t in a hurry to leave. Walking around and around. I was very grateful as this point that I had just planted, so nothing is up. Otherwise, I’m pretty sure the whole thing would have been flattened,  it was doing some serious laps. There was some discussion as to whether it was a female, who thought my freshly tilled garden might be a nice place to lay eggs.

So we decided to move it back to the woods, closer to the stream and bog where it likely came from…

My PB picked it up, much to it’s disapproval. And we gave it a gentle wheelbarrow ride down to the edge of the woods.

I hope it’s much happier there, because I normally like to walk around barefoot…
